Better late than never

So this is a long overdue update on the happenings around the shop but last thursday, October 16th to be exact, DEF-I-NATION Films held their 1st annual snowboard film premier at the Knitting Factory, formerly the Big Easy. People were lined up out the door waiting to get in. Things finally kicked off around 8:20 with DEF-I-NATIONS wakeboard flick; Breaking Ground. We mostly drank during this one, but hats off again to these guys for this first year wakeboard film.


Then it was time! My Own Private _____ Started after a local hiphop artist (whom i cannot remember right now) performed a set. With more footage than last year Derek and Nick really pulled it off this year and put it down with an awesome film with an amazing edit job. You can really see that these guys locked themselfs down for awhile to put this flick out and wouldn't settle for anything less than an awesome video. Featuring the riding of; AJ Ogden, Parker Duke, Corey Mac, Ben Woodard, Brad Jameson, and many many more local shreds from idaho. The music was awesome and the riding was better. I know i'm not alone when i say this, but this video kicked ass. Parker with the bogus basin road gap AJ with his amazing style and jibs. One word: AWESOME!

All in all it was an amazing night and from the looks of it everyone had a blast! Thanks again to DEF-I-NATION for some awesome videos and all the other sponsors of the event for helping create a rad gathering of communitites and i'm already getting excited for next years because these things just keep getting better every year. If you didn't make it your loss but you can make up for it by attending next years or just buying the DVD when it comes out. Now pray for snow!

First snow, in Boise!

This past saturday, October 11th 2008 to be exact, we had our first snow in Boise! Employee's and customers alike were scurrying around the shop with smiles from ear to ear about this super early snowfall. In my 10 years in Boise i've never seen snow in town in October. It snowed for a solid hour, at one point in nearly white-out conditions although the snow didn't stick it was still exciting and hopefuly a sign of a lot more snow to come this winter with endless powder days for everyone!

Video season is on!

After waiting for what seemed like a year we've finally received some of our video offerings for this year!

Mack Dawgs "Double Decade" and "Down with People", So far this year it's a tossup between Down with People and T Rice's film for my favorite shred flick of this year. Double Decade is pretty up there too, the level of progression and riding is outrageous!

Tech9ine's "Familia" Jake Devine and Magoon absolutely kill it, if you're style is gangster or you're just a fan of some awesome riding be sure to grab this film and check it out.

Runaways all-girl shred flick "See what I See", An awesome lineup of the best women riders in the world with some awesome riding and good music selection it's still on my to-see list, and should be on yours too!

Absinthe's "Ready", Be sure to check out Jeremy Jones section very carefully, you will not see anyone else take the lines this guy takes, truly amazing. Also, be on the look out for some more tobaggon riding from Mikey Leblanc

Think Thanks "Stack Footy" Burtner, Stevens Milbery and Genovese are all back in this film, the riding is the most creative that you will see anywhere.

Travis Rice's much anticipated film "Thats it Thats All" should be here in a couple more weeks so you're going to just have to satisfy the need to watch that flick by watching the teaser over and over.

Autum Line's "Technicolour" This is the only movie i haven't really had time to sit down and watch but according to Ben it's another pleaser that will get you pumped for the upcoming season.

Nike Snowboard boots! After waiting a long hard year they've finally arrived on our doorstep in fancy boxes complete with shiny gold wrapping. Oh Nike, you think of everything!!! I've tried these bad boys on in a 10 and 10.5 and they are pretty true to size and are incredible comfortable. With a team with the likes of Danny Kass, Austin Smith, Laura Hadar and Justin Bennee backing the boots you would expect nothing less! So if you've got nothing better to do or just wana see how these boots feel and fit come on down and try them on.

Local Vans Photo Challenge

Vans Warped tour miniramp Qualifier

So as everyone knows the Vans Warped tour is coming to town again on August 8th but what not a lot of people know is that the qualifier happened July 16th for the miniramp contest happening again this year during the tour. We had a good turnout for the event with plenty of skaters and spectators showing up. Although i failed miserably at my job of taking photos of the event everyone still had a good time. So just use your imagination of 5 man heats on the Rhodes halfpipe and picture the qualifiers.

The top 27 skaters were chosen to go out and skate the vans miniramp and here they are in order according to highest score:(and i'm not responsible for any mispellings of peoples names, some people around the shop just have bad handwriting that i can't read)
